Every April the calls cluster: keys that stick, bolts that grind, cabin doors that fought all winter and finally quit. Spring is when winter's bill arrives.
What winter did
Six months of freeze-thaw moved your doors; road grit and pollen worked into cylinders; moisture wicked into keyways and froze micro-rust onto pins; and heavy gloves torqued keys sideways since November.
The spring ritual
- Dry-lube every exterior cylinder (graphite/PTFE — never oil).
- Throw every deadbolt with the door open; adjust any strike that binds.
- Tighten hinge and handle screws that winter walked loose.
- Retire any key with visible wear — worn keys make worn locks.
Cabins and seasonal places
First visit of the season, test everything before you need it at dusk. We do spring service rounds across the lake — one visit, every door, done for the year.
